SC #5: Comment to someone you haven't ever interacted with before or introduce yourself to someone you've briefly interacted with and friend/follow them.
Not my thing.
SC #6: In your own space, make a list — anything between one and ten things is a sweet spot, but don't feel constrained by that! - of things that you wish existed in fandom or elsewhere, or that you'd like someone to make for you. Are you dying for podfic of your writing? Do you need icons for a character that doesn't get much fanart? Is there a story you want to read? Are you looking for new canons to get into? Would you like a collaborator for a project?
Maybe you want more people to talk about a certain fandom with, or you'd love to trade ficlets with somebody over email. Maybe you're new to a fandom and would like some recs to start reading, or communities to join. This is the time to ask!
Not my thing either. Maybe I'm weird, but asking someone to make something for me? Especially for free? It feels presumptuous on my part (and asking a creator for free work goes against everything I believe in, even if it's just a general "it would be nice if" and if technically they're offering), and a waste of their precious time on their part.
SC #7: Promote/Rec/Sing the Praises of Yourself!
Totally not my thing. I'm secure in who I am and in my abilities. I don't need to pat myself on the back.
SC #8: Rec at least three fanworks that you didn’t create. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it.
This is my thing.
"Good Omens" by sandara, https://www.deviantart.com/sandara/art/Good-Omens-786671266: The artist created this before the show premiered, and while I love the show, this is more along the lines of how I pictured the final confrontation with His-Father-Who-Is-No-Longer-in-Heaven started, and it's not just that Crowley is carrying a tyre iron and not a starter crank. The angel and the demon are coming together for the last stand against the Adversary. Crowley looks battered and exhausted but ready to fight, ready to defend Adam, and the two are taking strength from each other.
"50 Years in Time and Space" by Richard Swarbrick https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYPgggN28_o: This came out at the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who, and when anyone asks for general recs for DW, this comes to mind immediately.
"The Pond Continuum" by kaydee_falls, https://www.whofic.com/viewstory.php?sid=49436: This is a series of scenes of Amy and Rory's life, from being thrown back in time to the end of their days. It's rather wonderful. Barcelona, 1966 is the best.
SC #9: In your own space, promote at least one canon that you adore (old, new, forever fandom).
Hm. Let's list a few. Sandman by Neil Gaiman. Firefly. The Reckoners by Brandon Sanderson (I still need to write at least one fic in this universe). And, going back a bit, I really love M*A*S*H, especially from season 3 on. For a sitcom, that was really a rather intense show, with stellar writing and dialogue.
