Commas matter

They really do.

Reps from the client are here at work today and tomorrow, and tonight, they are taking us all to dinner. We just found out where we're going, and this is the IM exchange between me and my husband.

Him: can you pop over and see what I might be eating? Butter Fetticuini is NOT what I will be eating.
Me: yeah, moment
Me: Roast Half Chicken $26 Natural jus, with mashed potatoes and vegetable of the day
Me: Pullman's Pork Chop $28 Grilled double cut chop, seasonal fruit sauce, with mashed potatoes and vegetable of the day
Him: oh fuck a porkchop
Me: No basic steak. Weird.
Him: mm. commas needed.
Him: oh, fuck, a, pork, chop

LOL!!! I was about to say...fucking a pork chop is...not recommended, lol! And it is a terrible way to attempt food consumption. *CACKLES*

They do, but... that might have been going a little far the other way?

My husband is nothing if not overenthusiastic.

Now it's become a joke in our household. My husband sent me an image of a pork chop with a sprig of parsley on it, and said, "Saucy little minx, with that garnish!" *rolls eyes*

We had a book about commas, but I have to say, it didn't include that one! It was designed for children, after all!

Do you want to eat Grandma?
Do you want to eat, Grandma?

See? And my youngest still doesn't get the use of commas. I don't think I'll use your example, either. First, we don't consume pork in any way, shape, or form. Second, as I tell my children... Language!

I advise reading out loud. If you put a small pause, it's likely you need a comma. They don't seem to teach that anymore in school. Maybe the teachers need your example so they understand how important that comma is! It would sure make the message unforgettable.
